Full guide to start a blog from the start to setup to profit

If you are a beginner on making a blog or a website, this guide is right for you. We made this article to guide you and give you an advantage before making any decisions to purchase or to pursue this career.

I said career, right? Yes, it can be a full-time job and the best single source of income that you will have. This will give you freedom and wealth if it is properly implemented.

Blogging is a bit time-consuming, there, I blow it for you. It will eat up your time and you need to focus. You can or you may not like to continue reading because of what I have just said. It takes hard work mentally. It is a hard truth, but it has also a reward.

It is in the process and the rewards make me motivated to write more content. And let people know what you think in a topic that you loved and enjoy sharing. Help the people who will read your blog. Let’s cut this first. So, if you decided to continue, let’s jump in!

First, you need to decide what is the name of your blog or website. It should be registered through a domain registry.

I recommend looking it up on the Namecheap website, the name speaks for itself. It is cheap and secure. You can buy as low as $1.88 for the first year and renew it for only $8.88 per year.

It is recommended to find a name with two-three words. See the sample I’ve searched for you. It is better to have 2 or three words in your domain name so that it will be easy to remember and identify by the user who will visit your site in the future. Here’s a sample of finding your name:

The moment I’ve searched this keywords this may not be available to day when you read this blog. See the recommended keywords you can use for your website. This depends on your topic or niche so you need to find keywords that fit to your business.

  1. onlineblow.com – e.g. Online blog
  2. eatfastfit.com – e.g. Nutrition/fitness niche
  3. fashionaudition.com – e.g. Fashion niche
  4. designsuited.com – e.g. Creative or design niche

Why should I buy a domain name?

It is like registering your business name and setup your branding for marketing strategy later. People will start to search your business name on the internet.

Second, you need to place your domain name on a web host. When you start creating a business in the real world, you need a physical location or commercial lot to set up, store, and sell your products. The same rules apply in the digital world when setting up a website.

When you set up your blog or website, you have a couple of files, images, and HTML code that make up your website. These files take up space and need to be stored. Without an online home, your files would just sit on your computer and no one would ever see them. A hosting provider will provide a place on a web server to store all of your files and are responsible for delivering the files of your website as soon as a browser makes a request by typing in your domain name.

On a hosting service, here you can install WordPress. – is among the most popular open-source CMS which is used for building dynamic websites and blogs. it is among the most widely used website creation tools around the world and also an equally powerful CMS.

WordPress recommends 3 Hosting Companies that you can look to

  1. Bluehost – Check out my review on Bluehost

You can check on their website, you can start from $3.95/month for basic service.

In SiteGround, the starting price for WordPress hosting is $6.99/month including all the services needed for 1 website.

The most affordable to start with is your WordPress hosting. It starts from $2.59/month for one website.

I recommend them for you to start. Click the links above for more information on their website. Others are good too. You can try them in the future if you are going to transfer or migrate your website. I have a couple of sites built in Bluehost. I am satisfied with their service.

At least you can now have options on which web hosting you want to buy.

Lastly, install the WordPress theme and plugins.

Depending on your topic or niche, there are a lot of free templates available on WordPress as well as Premium themes.

Check out on Envato Market for more affordable WordPress Themes

WordPress, they will allow you to use the free template but with a limited function, just the basic features of a website. If you want your website to be professionally designed, I recommend you buy Premium themes as a one-time fee and some have a subscription fee. You can have it forever and your control over the website is wide. You can make changes if you like.

WordPress also has a vast plugins available in its database. Some are free and some have a reasonable price. But for you, if you are just starting out you can use the free stuff for now.

Later, you can purchase the Premium themes. I used the Thrive Themes – it is a complete tool to build a simple to awesome design website. It is a conversion-focused theme and great for lead generation too.

Now I am going to guide you in setting up your Website or blog through WordPress through Bluehost.

This is the main dashboard in Bluehost where you can see your domain name and you can go directly to WordPress. To add your domain, simply click “Domains” on the left side

Then add the domain to the one you just purchased.

If your domain name is already added on the dropdown, you go directly to WordPress button and start setting up your WordPress site.

Here is the WordPress dashboard,

Next, you need to choose the theme for your business or blog. Basically, the theme you will choose is the face and look of your website. You can activate themes that you like and deactivate it you try another theme.

Things to consider in setting up the your website.

Go to settings and click permalinks.

In the Permalink settings, choose the post name. In every post you will make, the URL which can be found in bar browser will reflect whichever title of your post. It can be easily identified.

Another plugin you should install is Rank Math. It is to check the SEO score for your contents.

Whatever your goal of your website, putting quality content is a must. This will lead to a profit and build your wealth. I recommend choosing a topic or niche that you like or want to expand. Be a leader or authority on that niche. There so much need to learn about niche or finding your content.
